Check your inventory

The kids go back to school in a couple of weeks so we’ve put together some pointers on how to get organised without breaking your budget:

Check your inventory

Much like grocery shopping, if you don’t first check what you have at home before writing a list of what you need, you’re more likely to waste money on unnecessary. Check your children’s closets and you may just find new or barely used notebooks, binders and pens.

Give your kids a budget

Having a budget will make them think twice about buying the $150 pair of shoes that they just ‘need’ to have when their total budget is $200. This will show your children the value of money and prevent them for getting carried away.

Use cash instead of plastic

Using cash will help you stay on top of your budget and your children can see at a glance how much they have spent, and how much they have left.

Shop in sales

Follow stores like your local office supplies shop or shoe store on Facebook or subscribe to their emails to see when their back to school sales start. Don’t leave it to the last sale day to shop as all the best bargains will already be snapped up.
