  • Geoff Ellis


    Geoff is the Principal of the Profit Advantage Group (who are Business Advisors) and has extensive experience Nationally and Internationally in Accounting, Strategic Planning, Business Improvement, Corporate Governance and Management. Geoff has served on a number of National Centres of Excellence for CPA Australia & the Institute of Management Consultants as well having experience in successfully serving on a number of Boards. Geoff joined the Board of The Mac as an Associate in 2012 and was appointed as a Director in 2013, before being appointed Chairman of the Board in 2019. Geoff is also Chairman of the Executive Committee. Geoff is a proud resident of the Macarthur Region and is actively involved in a number of other Community Groups.

  • Peter Buckley

    MBA, B.Com, GAICD

    Peter joined The Mac as a director in November 2018 and was appointed as Deputy Chairman of the Board in 2019.

    Peter is an experienced executive leader and company director who has operated across a wide range of sectors including Industrial and Engineering Service, Private Health Insurance, Education, Aged Care and Manufacturing. Leadership roles have included Head of Strategy and Innovation for a leading Not for Profit health insurer and General Manager of a large ASX listed engineering and services company. Peter's experience includes strategic leadership, customer experience and organisational culture and he also serves on the board of Warrigal Aged Care.

    A lifelong resident of the Macarthur region, and along with his family Peter values community service and the significant opportunities presented in the Macarthur Region.

  • Ian Counsell

    MMgt, F Fin, GIA (Affiliate), MAICD, JP

    Ian is a risk and compliance practitioner, with over 40 years' experience in a range of ADI's and corporate regulator management positions. He holds a Master of Management from the University of Wollongong. Ian has worked specifically in and around the mutual banking industry during the last 20 years, holding senior and executive positions responsible for Operational and Credit Risk. Ian has also held national corporate roles for an Australian Big 4 bank. Ian's practical risk and compliance experience has been enhanced with the unique opportunity of 5 years working with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). 

    Ian is active in his local community volunteering for a range of sporting and community groups. He has a long association with Scouts Australia as a Cub leader for more than 10 years and in regional governance roles with the Scouts association.

  • Doug Ferris

    B.Bus - Personnel and Industrial Relations

    Doug has been in the area of human resources management for over 40 years, covering sectors such as primary industry, sale and marketing, care services and community services. He has run his own consulting business for 22 years, including the provision of HR consulting services to The Mac over the last 10 years. His prime interest in the development of professional teams and interpersonal working relationships within organisations will be a great asset to The Mac as he transitions to a more strategic role on the Board.

    Doug has lived in Camden for 38 years and along with his extended family, has established strong roots in the region through engagement in a diverse range of activities, including serving on several community based not-for-profit organisations. Doug brings a sound understanding of the operational nature of the business sector and will compliment the Board Team with his strategic thinking and planning experience.

  • Ashley Jennings

    Ashley joined The Mac as a director in January 2020.

    Ashley is the former Chief Executive Officer of Sydney Credit Union and brings 43 years of experience in executive management and leadership, working specifically in finance, strategy, risk management, corporate governance, Information Technology and audit and compliance. Innovative and technologically astute, Ashley brings expertise in developing governance models and driving operational and business change whilst maintaining the moral promise of upholding the fundamental principles of mutuality, transparency and fairness.

    In October 2010 the Customer Owned Banking Association (formerly ABACUS) awarded Ashley the Distinguished Service Award in recognition of an outstanding contribution to the Australian credit union industry. An accounting and investments graduate with an Advanced Diploma in Management, Ashley is currently the acting Chair of Transaction Solutions Limited, an IT service managed company whose competencies include hosting services, infrastructure, networks, security and business continuity solutions and end to end Cloud services.

    Ashley has also held Board positions in the following areas: Financial Advisory Services, Shared Services and Training and Professional Development.

    Ashley has been an active participant in community organisations, including the former Trustee / Director of the not-for-profit Australian Development Organisation CUFA (formerly known as the Credit Union Foundation Australia), delivering economic development, education, enterprise and employment projects across the Asia Pacific.

    Ashley is currently a director and treasurer of the Karpaty Foundation, an organisation that provides grants and scholarships to individuals and organisations for the purpose of building a fair, just, creative and caring society.

  • Katie Palmer

    CA, B.Bus, Adv Dip. Accounting, GAICD

    Katie is the current CFO of Nepean Mining and Transport which is part of the privately owned Nepean Group, located in the Macarthur Area. With over 16 years’ experience in the manufacturing and project management sector, prior to Nepean, Katie worked as Financial Controller of CMI Electrical Products which is a division of CMI Limited. Katie has diverse experience, commercial acumen and proven success in driving growth, leading business transformation in the highly competitive mining and manufacturing sector.

    Being a strategic business partner in her current role at Nepean and her previous role at CMI, Katie has driven major change both strategically and operationally, and achieved dramatic cost savings while transforming parts of these businesses to fit the current market. Along with improving business process, re-engineering inefficient companies & creating sustainable financial & operational models that were able to be integrated into a shared service environment, Katie is also a Macarthur local and treasurer of the Camden Show.

  • Deb Vardy


    Deb practices in the Estate Planning and Conveyancing departments at Marsdens Law Group in Camden and has particular expertise in dealing with Probate and Administration matters. She joined The Mac’s Board of Directors in 2011 as an Associate Director, before becoming a full Director in 2013.

    As a Macarthur local her entire life, Deb has watched the region grow and evolve to where it is today. Her involvement with competitive team sports, voluntary work with Camden Hospital and her professional experience in the Macarthur region provide the Board with valuable localised expertise.

Our Management Team

  • Dave Cadden – Chief Executive Officer

    Dave joined the team in 2007 as General Manager. With over 40 years' experience in the banking and credit union industry, he leads the management team with a wealth of experience and knowledge. Dave participates in numerous community and industry committees. “Leading an ethical and deeply passionate team is incredibly motivating and the reason I come to work every day feeling inspired.”

  • Paul Brooks – Chief Financial Officer

    Paul has been with The Mac for over 15 years. He is a qualified CPA & also holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree. With over 20 years experience in the finance industry, Paul has worked both as a practitioner & regulator. Paul and his family have lived in the local area for over 20 years & are heavily involved in the local community. "I am very fortunate to both live & work in the local community. At The Mac, we value all of our members in a way that the big financial institutions overlook."

  • Rebecca Brookes – Chief Operating Officer

    Rebecca has been with The Mac for over 18 years. Her career has progressed over the years through branches, administration and now in her current role as the Executive Manager of Member Services. Rebecca plays a key role in the strategic direction and management of The Mac. Rebecca & her family live in the Macarthur region. “Working and living in the Macarthur area, I've watched it grow and change to what it is today. I'm proud to be a part of a team that strives to improve the well-being of our members."
